Slot paytable bands: which award applies at 9, 10 or 11 symbols?

If a slot paytable lists 8–9 symbols at 2× and 10–11 at 4×, eleven qualifying symbols belong to the second band. Under a rule that awards one applicable tier, that means 4×, not 2× plus 4×. The count tells you which row to use; it does not make all lower rows cumulative.

A fictional berry slot paytable lists three symbol-count bands and their award factors.

Read the range as a range

Here is an invented paytable for one ordinary symbol. The model pays one award for the applicable count band, uses the total round stake as its multiplier base, and has no additional multiplier or special-symbol award. These values are not copied from a real game’s configuration.

Qualifying count Factor At a total stake of 5 units
Fewer than 8 No award in this model 0
8 or 9 2× 10
10 or 11 4× 20
12 or more 7× 35

Both ends of each written range are included. Moving from eight symbols to nine stays in the first band. Moving from nine to ten crosses the next threshold. Eleven remains in that second band; it does not qualify for the 12+ row.

The higher row replaces the lower row in this model

At eleven qualifying symbols, 5 × 4 = 20 is the award. Adding the lower factor would produce 5 × (2 + 4) = 30, overstating this model’s return by 10. The multiplication is fine; the choice to add the factors is the mistake.

The same strawberry symbol illustrates three count bands; eleven symbols uses the middle 4× factor only.

There are real rule sets with an explicit non-cumulative condition. For example, the Wild Beach Party overview specifies the highest win for each winning combination. That source supports the need to read the award rule; it does not supply the invented 8–9, 10–11 and 12+ values above.

First establish which symbols qualify

A visible count is not automatically a qualifying count. A cluster game may require connections, while another format may use a line or consecutive reels. Different symbol types cannot simply be combined into one count because their icons are similar.

Our table starts after that eligibility question has been answered. It also concerns one combination only. Multiple separate wins in a round may follow their own addition rule; “do not add lower tiers” is not the same instruction as “never add separate awards.”

Keep the multiplier base with the table

A 4× label is incomplete without its base. Here the base is the declared total stake of 5. In a real game, use the help’s stated unit rather than assuming a coin, line or full-round value. The result is an award amount before the round’s stake is considered, not a claim of profit.

If a mobile crop hides the range or base, the full-table reading guide helps recover the missing context. The slots hub covers related symbol rules, and msw collects the other formats.
